St. Gallen, Switzerland - June 3, 2014 - For the second consecutive year, the Longines CSIO of St. Gallen renewed its support of JustWorld International, the official charity partner of the equestrian event. Their partnership continues to raise awareness among the Swiss public about its different humanitarian projects around the world. The generosity of the organizers and of the Swiss watch brand Longines, a major JustWorld supporter, will provide 5,000 meals to children living in poverty thanks to the "Longines Clear The Jump" initiative conducted during the Longines Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon.
The Longines CSIO St. Gallen, the first Swiss international equestrian event to support JustWorld
The partnership between the Swiss Equestrian Federation and JustWorld International, initiated in 2013, emerged in May last year at the Longines CSIO of St. Gallen, which became the first Swiss international equestrian event to support the projects of the humanitarian organization. Following the unfortunate cancellation of the 2013 edition at the end of the second day of competition due to inclement weather, CSIO President Nayla Stössel welcomes the success of this year's collaboration with JustWorld.
"I am very proud to be able to welcome JustWorld International this year at our event, and to help educate the public about this charity. I hope this is just the start of a long and fructuous collaboration and that the CSIO of St. Gallen will have a significant impact on the great projects supported by JustWorld International," said Stössel.
The distribution of information to the public, speeches by the announcers, the JustWorld jump in the show ring, interviews of the show's president and of the charity's ambassadors about their involvement and the presence at the event of Jessica Newman, Founder and Director of JustWorld International, enabled JustWorld to continue building awareness about the humanitarian work conducted to help the most underprivileged children across the world. JustWorld already counts among its ranks many Swiss rider ambassadors, such as Markus Fuchs, who has shown his support from the very beginning; Phillip Zueger, a Young Rider Ambassador who organizes each year his show in Galagen (SUI) to raise funds and awareness for JustWorld; the European junior team champion and Swiss junior champion of 2013, Laetitia du Couëdic, who has been engaged with JustWorld for more than a year; and also, Emilie Stampfli, a rising star who competed in the CSIO of Saint Gallen this year.
"Longines Clear The Jump": A Formula For Success
The Swiss watch brand, that has become a major partner of equestrian sports, renews its official support to JustWorld International by replicating the "Longines Clear The Jump" initiative, previously organized at the FEI World Cup Finals in Lyon. The idea is very simple: Longines makes a donation to JustWorld International each time the Longines obstacles are cleared. On Sunday June1, 2014, during the Longines Grand Prix of Switzerland, the watch brand donated an amount equivalent to 5,000 meals for the impoverished children supported by JustWorld through its global projects.
The donation was symbolically presented by the President of Longines, Mr. Walter Von Känel, who also said, "Longines' slogan 'Elegance is an attitude' is beautifully demonstrated today. We reward today the elegance of the heart shown by JustWorld International in favor of disadvantaged children. This charity reminds us that we can all dedicate a little time to others. As the creator of time pieces since 1832, Longines is delighted to be able to endorse this message."
Jessica Newman emphasized, "Longines' support is essential to JustWorld. Their ongoing help allows us to successfully conduct our various humanitarian programs and to provide healthy meals to thousands of children living in extreme poverty in countries like Cambodia and Guatemala. I want to thank Longines for their valuable support, on behalf of all the volunteers and all the children helped by our charity."
